Elizabeth Lazzara and John Sciaccotta Serving as Campaign Vice Chairs for the 2016 Investing in Justice Campaign

Aronberg Goldgehn members Elizabeth O. Lazzara and John C. Sciaccotta are serving as Campaign Vice Chairs for the 2016 Chicago Bar Foundation’s Investing in Justice Campaign, which kicks off on March 7, 2016.

The campaign is a communitywide effort through which thousands of individual lawyers and legal professionals at Chicago-area law firms, corporate legal departments and other organizations of all sizes come together each year in March to raise much-needed funds for pro bono and legal aid services in the Chicago area.

Aronberg Goldgehn is among more than 150 Chicago-area law firms, corporate legal departments and other law-related organizations participating in the 2016 Chicago Bar Foundation Investing in Justice Campaign. The Campaign runs through the month of March.

All funds raised go directly toward CBF grants to more than 35 pro bono and legal aid organizations enabling them to provide critical legal assistance to tens of thousands of people in need.

Contributions Help:

• Strengthen Chicago’s pro bono and legal aid organizations
• Enable dedicated lawyers to pursue and remain in careers in legal aid
• Maximize opportunities for pro bono lawyers to effectively supplement the work of their legal aid counterparts
• Make the courts more user-friendly and accessible for people in need

Susan C. Levy, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Northern Trust, is Chair of the 2016 Investing in Justice Campaign.

“While there have been a number of positive changes in the landscape of pro bono and legal aid since the inception of the Campaign, the underlying fundamental principle of our country and our profession remains the same – we all stand equal before the law and all should have equal access to justice,“ said Levy. “Yet it unfortunately remains a fact that most of our low-income and disadvantaged neighbors in the Chicago area still cannot get the legal help they need due to a shortage of pro bono and legal aid resources.”

Over the past nine years, the Investing in Justice Campaign has raised a total of more than $11.5 million. The 2016 Campaign will again fund CBF grants that support a comprehensive range of legal services to many thousands of people in need including the elderly, the disabled, veterans, children, domestic violence victims and people at risk of losing their homes.
