Karen R. Mills Discusses the Impact of the DCBA Administered Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program

Karen R. Mills provides insights on the power of mentorship in the legal field in a recent DuPage County Bar Association (DCBA) Brief article titled “We Are Better Together: How Mentorship Can Shape a New Attorney’s Career.”

Karen, an active member and President-Elect of the DCBA, has participated in the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism Lawyer-to-Lawyer Mentoring Program as a mentor. The goal of the program is to provide one-on-one guidance to mentees as they navigate the beginning of their careers.

Throughout the last 10 months, Karen has guided her mentee, Abid Sabzali, through the first year of his legal career and has provided him with networking opportunities and advice as he tackles his many “firsts” as an attorney. Karen shares memories of their time together as well as the gratification the role has brought to her.

Karen concentrates her practice on estate planning, trust and estate administration, probate litigation, special needs planning, asset protection and guardianships for minors and adults with disabilities. Her practice also involves advising clients with respect to taxation, business and asset protection and long-term care planning.
